Our Origins
Founded in the United Kingdom Binatone has been at the forefront of the small domestic appliance and consumer electronics industry for over 60 years. The brand quickly became a household name after importing some of the country’s first transistor radios. By the end of the 1970’s a survey estimated that a Binatone product could be found in one of every four homes in the UK. In 1974 our first office in West Africa was opened.
Going Global
By the 1980’s the brand had successfully entered a host of other countries in Europe and beyond. In the 1990’s we were an early mover into markets in the former Soviet Union including Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. By 1995 Binatone products were sold across the Russian Federation.
Expanding in Africa
Binatone has developed unique skills in serving the African continent and is a brand of national significance in Nigeria and Ghana. In both countries we have extensive local facilities including warehousing and distribution, aftersales service, and manufacturing (Nigeria). Today our products are sold in over 20 countries across Africa.
Binatone Giving Back
Clean water should be a normal part of daily life for everyone, everywhere – but in many parts of Africa it is not. That is why we support the great work of Project Maji.
The charity is dedicated to creating a world in which every rural community has sustainable access to clean water.
